La Jerusalén futura no sólo podrá contar con una primacía militar. Ya 12,10 anunciaba la efusión del espíritu de gracia y de súplica como anticipo de lo que también va a formar parte de la ciudad futura: la purificación de los pecados e impurezas, incluyendo el mismo culto (1), porque se extirparán del país los ídolos sus profetas, automáticamente considerados falsos (2), al punto de que hasta los mismos familiares de estos profetas se encargarán de perseguirlos. La mención de las heridas en los brazos (6), alude a las prácticas de hacerse incisiones en la piel con el fin de alcanzar el trance y obtener visiones.
No hay que ver pues aquí un vaticinio del final de la profecía en Israel, como algunos proponen. Cierto que con Zacarías estamos llegando al final de este período, mas aquí no es el caso. El contexto nos ayuda a entender que en la Jerusalén del futuro no habrá profetas falsos porque los ídolos a quien ellos sirven van a ser extirpados.
