Súplica de confianza en momentos de peligro. Ya nos es familiar el triángulo: la presencia del enemigo, las penalidades del orante y la actuación de Dios. Los enemigos son fieras agazapadas, ávidas de presa (7); están dispuestos a la agresión (2s.6s) y no dudan en pisotear al suplicante (2s). Éste reacciona con temor (4), manifestado en las andanzas, en las lágrimas y en las fatigas (9), y latente en la proclamación de su confianza (5.12: «no temo»). De hecho, si pide a Dios que se incline -que tenga piedad (2)- es porque teme. Es un temor a la crueldad humana, que puede ensañarse con el acosado, cuya palabra ni siquiera es aceptada y respetada (6). El recurso a Dios, sin embargo, implica confianza en Dios. Es una confianza en la palabra o en la promesa divina (5.11). Dios hace suyas las lágrimas del orante: son tan valiosas que las recoge en su odre (9). El signo concreto de que Dios está con quien le suplica consiste en el retroceso de los enemigos (10). Al saber que Dios está de su parte (10b), el perseguido y pisoteado prorrumpirá en «alabanza» (14). Nada temerá, porque quienes le persiguen son meros mortales (5.11). Eusebio lee el estribillo a la luz de Rom_8:31. Es comprensible el miedo y la huida cuando arrecia el peligro y se vive el dolor. Pero también es posible la confianza en la Palabra de Dios, en Dios. Es bueno orar con este salmo ante tantos sufrimientos y tantas lágrimas que no encuentran respuesta humana.
